“The government should go beyond their verbal support against corruption,” says Moro in the United States

Federal Judge Sergio Moro emphasized the importance of the Car Wash investigation for strengthening democracy in Brazil at the Wilson Center, this past Thursday. He recognized the open support from executive branch for the continuation of the investigations, but reiterated that their contribution should go beyond verbal.  “They could, for example, accelerate the approval of new laws to facilitate the work of the judicial system,” he said . At various instances, Moro also assured the impartiality of the Lava Jato investigation regarding political parties and defended their objective to punish those who committed crimes, regardless of their political affiliations.
